✅ Tennessee Recap: Helping Marvin, Delivering Sushi, and Upgrading the Build!

What a whirlwind trip! Last week, I made the 18.5-hour drive down to the Big Tire Garage, owned by the legendary Ian Johnson, to help Marvin from Flex Rocks & Rollovers on his Tacoma build, Sushi. I hit the road Tuesday afternoon and spent all day Wednesday and Thursday in the shop wrenching and making sure this rig was ready to conquer the trails.

One of the major upgrades we tackled was installing a complete third member for the rear axle from Yukon Gear and Axle. This setup is a serious upgrade and ensures Sushi is trail-ready for whatever Marvin throws at it.

To top it off, I delivered a custom, one-off first-gen Tacoma fire pit to Marvin. His reaction to it was priceless—it’s not just a fire pit; it’s a functional piece of art, perfect for those post-trail campfire hangs.

After two full days in the shop, I hit the road Thursday night for the long drive back home, but the experience was 100% worth it. Huge thanks to Ian Johnson, Marvin, and the entire crew at the Big Tire Garage for their hospitality and for letting me be part of this awesome project. Can’t wait to see Sushi shredding the trails soon!

The last 48 hrs have been a whirlwind. And I'm down in Tennessee helping Marvin get sushi ready for his trip at @ianfrombigtiregarage shop. One more day and we will have almost everything done that we possible can do with the parts we have. I'll go into it more in another post. But after being up and working then driving and then working for 46 of the last 48 hours give or take it's time to get some rest.

Samson is a great great dog. Super smart, handsome and a giant meatball. He spent all day in the shop with me yesterday and nothing phased him. Grinding, welding, hammering. He just wanted to be near by. If we only had one dog we would keep him in a heart beat.

Just finished this #feniexindustries install the other day for a local contractor.

6 fusion-a surface mounts
2 quad cannons
Fusion-A 600 light stick
Quantum 2.0 visor single color unlocked
Wired to factory up fitter switches, reverse and marker circuits.
I made custom grill and light stick mounts out of .090 aluminum and painted them.

I'm always trying to take the installs to the next step. This time around I spent more time than I planned on making super clean wiring harnesses. Lots of heat shrink and Deutsch DT 6 way plugs. Making things easily serviceable and easy to reprogram things as needed. Labeling as much as I could with the printable heat shrink printer. I quoted the customer a certain amount of hours to do the install and ended up charging that. The extra time it took me was on me. Just trying to give my customers the best project for what I said I would do it for.

@feniexofficial is still one of my favorite light brands and that's why I use it. Light heads have a 5 year warranty and one of the best light outputs for the price and they make it super simple to install and control. Light heads have 3 separate power modes and each mode has around 20 or more patterns. Then you get to their quantum light heads and each light head has all 5 colors in them red, blue, amber, white and green. You can pick which colors you want to include in your pattern. All in a $99 self contained light head. Or you go to their fusion line which are single color with the same features for $59.

You have to love the way radflo shocks packages and ships their stuff. This is the first set we have ordered that have their new anodizing done on them. This customer wanted some red clamps on them. They are some pretty clean looking pieces.

Some SS3 3 inch Amber pods on the mirror mounts and a set of SSC1 1 inch pods on the rear bracket designed specifically for the Bronco. This customer won't be hurting for light now when they are up in the great North woods of Maine exploring.
